Fire is a constant concern for homeowners due to the hot and dry conditions in the hamlet and surrounding areas over the summer months. BBHOA is pleased to support the efforts of the Bbos volunteer firefighters. The group was established with guidance from Rob Erasmus of Environ Wildfire Services in 2024.
Everyone in Baardskeerdersbos is extremely grateful to Rob for his help, providing advice, equipment and training – and to Johnathan Wright for taking on the coordinator role for the group.

Volunteer Firefighters
The aim is for the group to be first responders in the event that a fire does break out in Baadskeerdersbos. The group will aim to keep it under control until the professional fire services can attend.
So what should you do if you come across a fire breaking out in the hamlet?
- Don’t panic
- Alert the Bbos volunteer firefighters on 081 715 5158 (Johnathan).
- Call the Overstand fire emergency number and ensure it is reported: 028 312 2400
If you are a Bbos resident who is willing to take part in the voluntary firefighters please also contact Johnathan – there is a short form to complete. The group is always looking for dedicated individuals who are eager to serve and protect the residents of our community. As a volunteer firefighter, you will play a critical role in responding to emergency situations, providing first aid, and helping to keep our community safe.
