The BBHOA plays a vital role in enhancing our community in various ways, focusing on initiatives that improve our neighborhood’s quality of life and overall well-being. However, it’s important to clarify that while we value all input and concerns from our residents, our committee does not handle crime or security-related issues.
We understand that safety and security are paramount priorities for any community, and we encourage residents to report any criminal activities or security concerns directly to SAPS in Gansbaai (24-hours emergency number: 028 384 0201).
Strandveld Plaaswag
The Strandveld Plaaswag (SPW) is a community run association, whose goal is the prevention of crime in our local area. This includes not just the neighbouring farms but also the homes in the hamlet of Baardskeedersbos. SPW covers the area of Baardskeerdersbos, and surrounding farms towards Elim, Pearly Beach, Uilkraal and Stanford. They work with and along side adjoining neighbourhood watches, security companies, SAPS and emergency services to make our area a safer place to live and visit.

The BBHOA and SPW recently met to discuss how the two groups can participate to achieve this goal. The SPW kindly produced some extremely informative notes about the organisation which can be accessed on the Minutes page.
For further information, you can visit the Strandveld Plaaswag website below or download their membership application form here:
Clearly, the more members the SPW has the more effective they will be at responding to security issues in Baardskeerdersbos (e.g., more cameras, dedicated patrols). Even if you are not a member please note that the SPW would welcome any information you have on suspicious activity observed in the village. BBHOA suggests all members seriously consider joining SPW and please use their networks to report crime/security issues rather than our WA groups, where this information could be missed.
